This men’s group, formed in Montpellier in 2004, is one of the major Gospel projects founded in France by Emmanuel Pi Djob<\/strong>, such as Black & White gospel Singers<\/em>, Black & White Xperience<\/em>, Gospelize It! Mass Choir<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Francis, a young opera singer of Cameroonian origin, is a student at the Perpignan Conservatory, where he is considered one of the most promising tenors in his year. Before specializing in opera singing, he gained solid experience as a performer of popular and religious music in Cameroon and Chad<\/p>\n

Considered one of the masters of the genre in France, Spain and Cameroon, constantly forging his own unique path (usually well off the beaten track), Pi Djob has been involved in gospel music since he was very young, starting out in the choir of the Marie-Gocker parish in Yaound\u00e9. He is one of the initiators of Go-Gospel (or Progressive Gospel), which, while having assimilated the Afro-American experience, makes it reflect the colours of the world and its current challenges.<\/p>\n

Like his older brother Pi Djob, Petis Likeng is one of the masters of European gospel. Whether on stage, conducting a choir, in professorial chairs, as a director or producer, he is a key figure.<\/p>\n

In Europe as in Africa, he is considered one of the greatest contemporary composers of this music, with several hundred original compositions or top-flight arrangements to his name.<\/p>\n

The pastoral ministry having somewhat distanced him from the stage, this singer, composer and arranger with a deep, smooth voice is finally returning to the stage. To do so, he has chosen to rejoin his former friends Petis Likeng and Pi Djob, with whom he had already founded the Black Cross Jubilee Quartet in the early 1980s in Yaound\u00e9, before meeting up with them again in France, in the legendary Black & White Gospel Singers.<\/p>\n

\u201cJo\u201d N’Tumba is a true living legend of the golden age of R&B and Hip-Hop in France, having co-starred in the fabulous Tribal Jams. A singer with a smooth, soulful voice and an emotional intensity, he is also an extraordinary dancer and choreographer. With By The Gospel River, Joseph returns to his first love, gospel singing, which he has always practiced in his family with his parents, brothers and sisters.<\/p>\n

From his beginnings in his native Senegal to the world’s greatest stages accompanying Omar Sosa, Xalam, Tour\u00e9 Kunda, Mory Kant\u00e9 and Rhoda Scott, Mr. Seck illuminates with his smile all those who have the opportunity to see or hear him play.<\/p>\n

Cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 2004, le groupe By The Gospel River na\u00eet de rencontres entre son initiateur Emmanuel Pi Djob et des chanteurs solistes au talent et \u00e0 l\u2019exp\u00e9rience bien \u00e9prouv\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le quartet s\u2019agrandit au fil des ans avec l\u2019arriv\u00e9e d\u2019instrumentistes qui viennent renforcer la structure musicale et soutenir davantage les voix des chanteurs, faisant basculer le groupe du style \u00ab Jubilee \u00bb d\u00e9pouill\u00e9 des d\u00e9buts, \u00e0 un Gospel plus progressif et plus \u00e9nergique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour qui a connu le groupe de gospel l\u00e9gendaire Black & White Gospel Singers n\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 1980 \u00e0 Toulouse, By The Gospel River en est un digne h\u00e9ritier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aujourd\u2019hui, By The Gospel reste une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence du genre en France, collaborant \u00e0 l\u2019occasion avec des artistes de renomm\u00e9e mondiale comme l\u2019organiste Rhoda Scott, le guitariste Munir Hosn, l\u2019harmoniciste Jean-Jacques Milteau, ou encore le joueur de Kora Soryba Kouyat\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
