The James Carl\u00e8s Danse Company [jamescarles.com<\/span>] and Emmanuel Pi Djob have been working together for almost 5 years, creating an event combining music, dance, slam and video, based on the history and multiple movements of gospel music around the world.<\/p>\n

Through this approach, the show entitled Gospel Rivers seeks to translate the quest for harmony, the balance of male and female poles in the sacred. These are central themes in the spirituality of Africa and its diaspora, the ‘Black Continents’ as they are aptly named.<\/p>\n

Gospel Rivers #5 \u201c9 Femmes Puissantes\u201d (9 Powerful Women), the opus created in 2023, refers both to Marie NDiaye’s novel, which won the Goncourt Prize in 2009, and to James Carl\u00e8s’ project \u201c12 portraits de femmes d’exception\u201d (12 Portraits of Exceptional Women), which started in 2020. The project consists of telling, like modern-day storytellers, through song, music and dance, an epic slice of life of female personalities who have transformed the world and whose actions continue to be powerful inspirations, paths to be explored for today’s world. This show combines music, dance, song, slam, video and scenography, highlighting the history and evolution of gospel over time.<\/p>\n

The project retains its original ambition of bringing together amateurs and top professionals for a performance.<\/p>\n

A combination of creation and transmission, the performers will take to the stage and perform with professionals after many hours of coaching with groups of amateur singers and dancers.<\/p>\n

La Cie James Carl\u00e8s Danse (https:\/\/jamescarles.com\/<\/a> ) et Emmanuel Pi Djob s\u2019associent depuis bient\u00f4t 5 ans pour une cr\u00e9ation entre musique, danse, slam et vid\u00e9o, autour de l\u2019Histoire et des multiples circulations du Gospel \u00e0 travers le monde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 travers cette d\u00e9marche, le spectacle intitul\u00e9 Gospel River cherche \u00e0 traduire la qu\u00eate de l\u2019harmonie, l\u2019\u00e9quilibre des p\u00f4les masculins et f\u00e9minins dans le sacr\u00e9. Th\u00e8mes centraux dans la spiritualit\u00e9 d\u2019Afrique et de sa diaspora, les bien-nomm\u00e9s Continents Noirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gospel River #3, l\u2019opus cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 2019, est une \u00e9vocation parl\u00e9e, chant\u00e9e, sous-titr\u00e9e vid\u00e9o-projet\u00e9e et dans\u00e9e des h\u00e9ro\u00efnes africaines et afro-descendantes connues, m\u00e9connues, ou anonymes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le projet conserve son d\u00e9sir premier de faire se croiser, le temps d\u2019une performance, amateurs et professionnels de haut niveau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette proposition allie ainsi cr\u00e9ation et transmission, car c\u2019est \u00e0 la suite de pr\u00e8s de nombreuses heures de coaching aupr\u00e8s des groupes de choristes et danseurs amateurs que ces derniers monteront sur sc\u00e8ne et porteront le spectacle avec des professionnels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La crise sanitaire d\u00e9clench\u00e9e par la Covid-19 a fait surgir un \u00e9pilogue d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la jeunesse, dont la premi\u00e8re fut donn\u00e9e en d\u00e9cembre 2022 \u00e0 Toulouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
