Trocadéro Jazztet

Above all a human adventure, the Trocadéro Jazztet was formed in the 2000s when Emmanuel Pi Djob, Esaïe Cid and Benoît Torrès met up with the Midnite Blue collective.

As the result of long-term work, ten internationally renowned musicians from the jazz and gospel scene come together to perform 100% original compositions by Esaïe Cid.

Esaïe Cid returns to the roots of genres with common origins, offering an eminently contemporary jazz framework for Afro-American spiritual songs. A music blending be bop and West Coast sounds. Timeless lyrics with historical resonance, sung by the leader of the gospel revival in Europe, Emmanuel Pi Djob, whose warm and powerful voice brings to mind James Cleveland, Ray Charles…

Esaïe Cid brilliantly returns to the very foundations of jazz, originally conceived as a deeply spiritual music by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Mary Lou Williams, who did not hesitate to alternate between jazz and sacred music.

Through demanding and vibrant interpretations, the Trocadéro Jazztet musicians take pleasure in conveying a range of universal emotions, from joy to suffering, by way of faith. Their music speaks to the soul and touches the deepest part of each and every one of us, while making our bodies swing.

An album is in preparation.
